South Sudan President Salva Kiir on Thursday officially launched a new terminal at the Juba International Airport under the theme “A New Era of Safe, Secure, and Sustainable Air Transport for All.”
According to the Office of the President, the inauguration marks one of the most significant upgrades to the country’s principal gateways since independence, providing travelers with a modern, world-class facility designed to meet international aviation standards.
President Kiir said the commissioning of the terminal is a proud national achievement and a milestone that reflects the country’s growing ambition.
“Today (Thursday) marks a significant milestone for Juba International Airport. I am pleased to officially open Terminal Three,” he said. “I extend my sincere thanks to the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority, and everyone who worked tirelessly to deliver this project despite the challenges.”

Kiir said investments in critical infrastructure remain central to the government’s vision of building a peaceful, prosperous and connected nation. He further stressed the importance of accountability in the implementation of public projects to ensure value for public funds.
“As we celebrate this success, we must remember the mistakes of the past. I urge all officials responsible for public contracts to conduct thorough due diligence before awarding them,” he counseled. “We must ensure government projects are not delayed by poor management of contracts.”
The president said the opening of this terminal demonstrates that the government is moving in the right direction.
“This progress sends a strong positive signal to the world. I invite international investors to partner with us in advancing South Sudan’s aviation sector,” he added.
