The Government of Turkey has donated a Toyota Hilux four-wheel-drive vehicle to the Central Equatoria State Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development to strengthen its operational capacity and support field activities.
The vehicle was handed over during a ceremony at the Central Equatoria State Secretariat on Wednesday. Speaking at the event, State Minister of Cooperatives and Rural Development Emmanuel Khamis Richard thanked the Turkish government for supporting the ministry.
“We appreciate the Turkish government for this important support. The vehicle will strengthen our ability to carry out field activities and engage directly with rural communities,” he stated. “We assure our partners that this vehicle will be used for the intended purpose, especially in supporting cocoa and coffee farmers in the southern part of the state.”
Khamis said improved access to rural communities would help the ministry better understand the challenges facing farmers and provide the necessary support.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Girey, a representative of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, urged the ministry to ensure the vehicle reaches farmers and communities in the field.
“We want this support to reach the farmers,” he said. “The vehicle should be used in the field to strengthen engagement with rural communities and support their activities.”
The donation is expected to improve the ministry’s mobility and enable officials to conduct more regular field visits, particularly in rural areas where cocoa and coffee production is taking place.
