The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has called on the residents of Wonduruba Administrative Payam to embrace peace, unity, and peaceful coexistence as the country works toward sustainable development.
He made the call on Saturday during a public rally in Wonduruba, part of an ongoing state tour to assess community challenges across the state.
“I urge the people of Wonduruba to accept and protect peace, emphasizing that peace remains a fundamental foundation for development and the improvement of services and infrastructure in South Sudan,” he said. “I encourage citizens to actively participate in government programs and work together with the authorities to promote unity, stability, and development in their communities.”
He reaffirmed that the state government will continue community engagements across Central Equatoria to understand local needs and improve living conditions.
Meanwhile, Towongo Stephen, the coordinator of Wonduruba Administrative Payam, appealed for urgent state support to tackle local challenges and enhance basic services and infrastructure.
“Local appeals from communities—ranging from Lainya to Wonduruba—frequently center on securing vital governmental backing for localized development, including healthcare expansion, maternal services, educational infrastructure, youth empowerment, and structured reintegration support for returning refugees and displaced populations,” he said. “Sustainable community recovery relies heavily on active cooperation between local populations, faith-based organizations, humanitarian partners, and state authorities to heal historical divisions and reinforce peaceful coexistence.”
