SPLM/A-in-Opposition complains to IGAD over stakeholder symposium

The SPLM/A-in Opposition has raised a complaint to the East African regional body IGAD over the recent stakeholders’ symposium held in Ethiopia.

The SPLM/A-in Opposition has raised a complaint to the East African regional body IGAD over the recent stakeholders’ symposium held in Ethiopia.

Opposition spokesperson Yohanis Musa Pouk told Radio Tamazuj that the stakeholders’ representatives brought by the government do not represent South Sudan.

Last week, more than 250 South Sudanese participated in the two-day symposium, including representatives from government, the opposition, political parties, faith-based groups, and civil society organizations.  The event was meant to ensure that the peace process includes all parties, not only the two warring sides.

Pouk said that the opposition requested that IGAD dispatch a team to rebel-held territories to select stakeholders and civil society organizations from those areas.
