The expected visit to Sudan by SPLM/A–in Opposition leader Riek Machar is still on, opposition spokesperson Yohanis Musa Pouk said, despite complaints raised by South Sudan’s embassy in Khartoum.
The embassy had complained about activities of a rebel delegation that arrived in Khartoum in advance of Machar’s visit, saying they breach existing bilateral agreements.
Pouk told Radio Tamazuj that the advance team was acting within the bounds of the IGAD-led mediation process. “Even visas of an advance team in Khartoum were arranged by the mediation,” he said.
The delegation held a press conference last week where Pouk criticised Khartoum for its reluctance to support the rebel movement, saying Sudan and the opposition share a common enemy in Uganda.
