Eastern Equatoria State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore dismissed the chief administrator of Imehejek Administrative Area on Thursday but did not name a successor.
The decision, announced in Gubernatorial Decree No. 7/2025 and read on state-owned Radio 97.5 FM, removed Mathew Oromo Maurice as chief administrator, effective June 26, 2025.
Lobong thanked Oromo for his service, saying the move was made in the public interest of Imehejek’s residents.
“In exercise of powers conferred upon me under Republican Decree No. 51/2020 and Article 99, Sub-Article 2(a) and (j) of the Eastern Equatoria State Transitional Constitution 2011, I hereby issue this decree for the relieve of Hon. Mathew Oromo Maurice as chief administrator,” the decree stated.
Oromo welcomed the decision, praising Lobong’s leadership and saying he gained valuable experience during his tenure.
“I learned a lot about leadership, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence with neighboring communities,” Oromo said. “I was able to interact with the people of Imehejek, Teneth, Oming, Lopit and other groups, fostering unity.”
Victor Omuho Ohidie, a national lawmaker representing the ruling SPLM party, commended Oromo for improving security in the area.
“Mathew is an energetic and dedicated leader who tackled many challenges,” Ohidie said. “Insecurity in the area has dropped significantly under his leadership.”
Ohidie urged Imehejek residents to continue supporting Lobong’s administration.
