Unity governor changes state and county officials

The Caretaker Governor of South Sudan’s Unity State Dr. Joseph Monytuil on Friday issued a decree appointing ten state cabinet ministers, after dissolving the entire state government and removing three county commissioners.

Monytuil, in a series of gubernatorial decrees read on the state-owned SSTV, which is broadcast in Juba, made the following appointments:

  • Stephen Salam Malut, Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement
  • Malual Majok Chol, Minister of Labour, Public and Human Resource Development
  • Peter Makok Malual Wuon, Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Communications
  • Nyaliep John Dak, Minister of Health
  • Nhial Banok Najang, Minister of Education, Science and Technology
  • Benjamin Majak Dau, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry
  • Arop Turuk Kuana, Minister of Livestock and Fisheries
  • William Bajuj Makueth, Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development
  • Nyacieng Dhie Guet, Minister of Gender, Child and Social Development.

He also issued another decree appointing three state advisors in the newly formed government: Paul Lili Mathot as advisor on political affairs, Bol Thang Chol advisor on peace and reconciliation, and Zachariah Pou Koryom as advisor on humanitarian affairs.

The governor further decreed the removal of Rubkona County Commissioner Stephen Salam Malut and Pariang County Commissioner William Deng Ayii as well as Abiemnom County Commissioner Arop Turuk Kuana.

He issued another decree appointing Apola Mayang Melut as Rubkona County Commissioner, Monylang Manyal Towal as Pariang County Commissioner and Antonio Gal Deng as Abiemnom County Commissioner.

Finally, he appointed John Jur Yuac as the mayor of Bentiu town.
