Two arrested over alleged theft in Leer

The authorities in Unity State’s Leer County have apprehended two youths over alleged burglary from a hospital construction site on Monday night.

Taker Thor Dabuol, the administrative officer in Juong Payam, told this publication on Tuesday that the suspects were arrested by local authorities and handed over to county authorities for further investigation.

“They are now in custody and under investigation because they took humanitarian properties in Rekyuol and hospital construction materials,” he said.

The allegedly stolen items include one chair, one large container, three ladders, and timber. The items were reportedly meant for the construction of Leer Hospital.

Thor said authorities would work hard to identify and arrest anyone disturbing the community at night. He urged people who have lost property to report the cases to the Criminal Investigation Department of the police.

Meanwhile, Moses Gatluak, a resident of Juong Payam, lauded the local authorities for arresting the two suspects.

“I appreciate the commissioner and his officials for protecting us from criminals; they should continue protecting the local communities from criinals, especially at night,” he said.
