Two boats arrived safely in Malakal Saturday after three months since setting off from Juba.
One of the captains, Diang Kuol Kur, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj the safe arrival, saying they had spent 16 days between Malakal and Adok port, due to the many checkpoints between Juba and Leer County.
“We have arrived safely in Malakal town. We appreciate SPLA-IO for making possible our journey to Malakal because they accompanied us through their territory,” Kur added.
He lamented that there were too many checkpoints from Juba to Malakal town but thanked God and both the SPLA-IO and SSPDF forces who offered them protection at various stages.
The chairman of the boats union in Malakal town, Chok Thok Ngor, also confirmed the arrival of two boats. He said they had been delayed by the conflict in Nasir County.
