South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday fired his private secretary and named a new one.

On Monday, Kiir issued several presidential decrees replacing his senior and close aides, including the office manager, chief administrator, presidential affairs minister, head of legal administration, and Chief of State Protocol in the Office of the President, among other replacements.

In yet another move, Kiir fired Deng Bona Bang Dhel as his private secretary and personal assistant and appointed Moses Rou Ayii in his place.

It is not clear why Kiir has swiftly replaced most of his close aides, but analysts and observers see the latest wave of appointments and dismissals reflects a climate of uncertainty within the presidency, where decrees are often issued and revoked within days.
