The family of a 22-year-old woman who went missing from her home in Juba has appealed to the public for help in locating her, her father said on Thursday.
Nyenlonge Manyuon Mayah disappeared from the family’s residence in the Checkpoint area of the South Sudanese capital on April 27, and her whereabouts remain unknown, according to relatives.
Family members said she had enrolled earlier this year at Smooth Star School in Juba, where she was pursuing her senior four studies. They said she had discussed unpaid school fees with the family a day before her disappearance.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, her father, Capt. Manyuon Mayah Kom of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), said his daughter left home in the evening and had not been seen since.
“When I returned home at around 7 p.m., I found the children crying,” he said. “They told me their sister had informed them that she was leaving for an unknown place.”
He said the family had reported the case to Checkpoint Police Station, informed local community leaders and reached out to the media in an effort to trace her.
“I have been searching for her up to now, but she has not been found,” he said.
Attempts to reach police for comment were unsuccessful.
