The Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers has approved a ceiling for fiscal year 2024-2025, amounting to 45 billion South Sudan Pound.

The budget was presented by Finance and Investment Minister Viana Kakuli to the Cabinet meeting chaired by Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani.

The Cabinet directed the State Minister of Finance and Investment to immediately implement the ceiling.

This year’s budget increased by 60 percent from last year’s.

Peacebuilding Minister Gerald Francis, who doubles as acting Information Minister, said the budget was approved after a lengthy discussion.

“We have passed; of course, the total resource envelope of the state is 45,122,749,71 pounds. This is our resource envelope for this 2024-2025 year,” Francis told journalists after the weekly Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

He said the allocations were done properly and the ceiling was critically scrutinized by all the members of the council.

“The allocations were done properly and the ceiling was scrutinized critically by all the members of the council. There were some inputs made after extensive deliberations and analysis,” he said.

He said the new leadership of the Central Equatorial State has a policy direction of embarking on a cooperative movement.

“If you go through our ceiling, the Ministry of Cooperative and Rural Development is among those given, let me say, adequate funding to implement this policy direction. The other one in the Ministry of Agriculture,” he said.
