The Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) government has condemned the killing of a 15-year-old primary schoolboy who was ambushed and killed by unidentified attackers while travelling from Bayan village to Jebel Boma County headquarters.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 8:40 a.m. on Friday, with the attackers fleeing into the bushes towards Apet East in neighboring Eastern Equatoria State.
In a statement, Jacob Werchum Juok, GPAA caretaker information minister, called on authorities in Eastern Equatoria to investigate the killing and ensure those responsible are held accountable.
“We strongly condemn the tragic killing of a 15-year-old primary schoolboy who was ambushed and brutally killed by unidentified attackers while he was going to attend school,” he said.
He urged authorities in Eastern Equatoria State to strengthen efforts to restore peace and security, allowing communities to recover from persistent insecurity and resume their normal activities.
The minister also extended condolences to the bereaved family, saying the government stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.
