Warplanes disperse farmers in Blue Nile

Sudanese warplanes several days ago carried out aerial bombardments in Blue Nile state areas Kanza, Kouma, Maguf and Yabus areas, sources told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday. The attacks caused hundreds of farmers to disperse from their farms to the Ethiopian border.

Some bombs fell near former international Al-Hijiz rendezvous in Yabus area in Blue Nile near Ishala, and bombardment continued till late hours two days ago close to where farmers were taking refuge near Kouma and Kanza. This forced the farmers to disperse for the second time to move towards the Ethiopian border where living conditions are described as hard.

According to ustaz (teacher) Abdullah Ibrahim, the acting secretary of the SPLM-N in Blue Nile, the bombardment started earlier this week and lasted until two days ago, adding that the number of areas bombarded have increased and have circled areas around Yabus, Kouma and Kanza recently.

He estimated that 97 bombs fell on Yabus since the war began last year and 6 other bombs dropped recently totaling to 103 bombs.
