The Speaker of South Sudan Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) on Monday visited the training camp of the national football team, the Bright Stars, and donated 10 million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) to the players.

Jemma Nunu Kumba urged the squad to secure a win against Sudan during their World Cup 2026 qualification game on Tuesday.

“You are already up there and the sky is the limit,” she encouraged the Bright Stars.

The speaker assured the team of the full support of the National Legislature and the people of South Sudan.

“A mother cannot come empty handed so we pledged SSP 10 million,” Kumba announced.

Last week, the presidential advisor for security affairs, Tut Gatluak, donated USD 1,000 to each player and vowed to give them USD 10,000 more if the team wins against Sudan.

The South Sudan national team ranks fourth in its group and penultimate in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup finals in America.

South Sudan’s group includes Sudan, Senegal, Mauritanian, and Togo.
