RSF elements allegedly kill 2 Misseriya tribesmen in Abyei

Local sources said two Misseriya tribesmen were shot and killed by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldiers in the northern parts of Abyei Administrative Area on Saturday, and an injured person was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

A local observer, who preferred anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the press, told this publication that one wounded person was admitted to an MSF-run hospital in Abyei.

“Yes, two Misseriya tribesmen were shot dead, and another wounded person has been hospitalized at MSF Hospital. The incident occurred in the northern part of the Amiet commercial zone in the Abyei Administrative Area last Saturday,” he said.

According to the source, soldiers from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a Sudanese rebel group, were behind the killings because their forces were heavily deployed in the area.

“The claims that Ngok Dinka were the ones who murdered are untrue because Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been deploying its fighters massively in those areas,” the sources said.

Meanwhile, Yohana Akol, the Abyei Minister of Information and Communication, said the incident happened in the areas controlled by the Arab Misseriya.

“We do not have the details on the event because it happened in the northern part of Abyei that is being controlled by Arabs,” he said. “We only know that one injured person was hospitalized at a hospital in Abyei Town.”
