The residents of Julud in Dilling Locality, South Kordofan, are complaining of the deteriorating health situation in the region due to the heavy rainfall during the current rainy season which led to an increase in the rate of malaria infection. They also complain of the shortage of medicines, lack of mosquito nets and poor nutrition.
Reliable source told Radio Tamazuj that people are repeatedly getting infections of malaria due to lack of medicines. The same sources added that medicines were not available at health centers and hospital, leading to a rise in their prices in commercial pharmacies with anti-malaria pills selling for 14 pounds and arthermeter injections selling for 90 pounds.
Additionally, the sources asserted that those with limited income have turned to using traditional medicines such as herbs and roots. The sources also revealed that the region has been cut off from supplies for nearly a year and expressed concern over the children not being vaccinated. They appealed to organizations and government institution to expedite in providing medicines and health services to the people affected in Julud.
