Hepatitis affects 25 people in Yida camp

A doctor in Yida Camp in northern Unity state announced that there is a Hepatitis outbreak in the camp.

Doctor Joseph, Yida Camp Coordinator, told Radio Tamazuj that there are 25 cases of hepatitis which occurred recently.

He said that 9 of the 25 have undergone medical examination and are proven sick, while 9 are saved, and the result of the remaining 7 is unknown.

He explained that there is currently a campaign by the non-governmental organizations working in the camp to educate citizens about ways to prevent the disease. He also pointed out that an outbreak in which nine people are diagnosed with hepatitis should be ranked epidemic stage by the World Health Organization.
