Flights resume between Juba and Khartoum

The first Sudanese airliner flew from Khartoum to Juba on Tuesday.  Arriving at the airport on 18 September at 10:00 A.M, the flight was the first to fly between the two countries since the cessation of commercial travel last April. Several of arrivals from Sudan said that the departure procedures in Khartoum were convenient. Lual Akonen, one of the arriving passengers, told Radio Tamazuj “the travel procedures in the airport had been quite easy unlike the complexities that previously existed.” Ayman Ismail Bakhit, adviser at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Prevention, who had just come back from Khartoum, confirmed the convenience on Juba’s side, asserting that the airport authorities welcomed them and treated them well.
