A medical source at Malakal Teaching Hospital in Upper Nile state told Radio Tamazuj that there are great difficulties facing mothers in the women’s wards due to lack of a blood bank and essential medicines.
The source added that the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Malakal Hospital has experienced a terrible degradation of services, amid fears that this might endanger the lives of mothers who attend the antenatal clinic.
The department receives monthly at least 90 cases, most of which need blood transfusion.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak to the press, appealed for any organization, state or federal authorities to urgently provide the hospital with blood and medicines.
