The Bawader Comedy Troupe of Sudan’s West Darfur State at the weekend organized a vibrant Ramadan evening characterized by singing and theatrical performances at the Ardamat Administrative Unit to address psychological trauma caused by the war.
The audience enthusiastically enjoyed comedy and musical segments on Saturday night which Bashaar Ali Ahmed, the head of the troupe, told Radio Tamazuj was to mark the fifth anniversary of the group.
“We aim to help people overcome the psychological trauma left by the war in the region under the theme ‘With Culture, Arts Flourish’ which was chosen for the celebration,” he said.
Ali announced the troupe’s readiness to organize more cultural events whenever requested. He mentioned that the troupe works in various fields, including peace-building, violence prevention, gender-based violence, health, and other activities, and conducted workshops on theater and arts to enhance the skills of its members.
Meanwhile, Ridwan Fajjag Ibrahim, one of the attendees, expressed his satisfaction with the celebration, describing it as beautiful. He noted that psychological support was provided to those who attended and the plays reflected the state of affairs in the country.
“Bawader Comedy Troupe presented musical performances addressing the issues of homelessness and matters concerning the Sudanese state,” he stated. “Bawader succeeded in making the day beautiful, coinciding with its fifth anniversary, with attendees from all social spectrums in West Darfur State.”
The audience was predominantly composed of young people of both genders, alongside children.
