The Sudanese Ministry of Health on Wednesday received 90 tons of medical supplies donated by the Islamic Call Organization.

Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, the Sudanese Minister of Health, confirmed receipt of the medical supplies valued at two million dollars and said the intervention was timely due to the effects of the ongoing war.

“The country is in dire need of this grant. We have 30,000 cases that require urgent medical intervention, especially since the country is witnessing a war that has affected the health sector,” he said.

The health minister praised the efforts of the Islamic Call Organization in providing humanitarian assistance, calling for more support, especially in light of the alliances and network of relationships established by the organization regionally, religiously, and internationally.

Ibrahim also urged donors to assist Sudan in rebuilding the hospitals destroyed by the war.

He pointed out that the grant will be subject to the health ministry’s distribution mechanisms, and that they are ready to implement and coordinate the delivery of the grant to civilian and military hospitals overseen by the organization.

The grant provided by the Islamic Call Organization includes heart catheters, examination tools, burn treatment tools, and other equipment.
