The Executive Director of the National Press Club (NPC), Poverty Alfred, was robbed by unidentified armed men while walking home on Monday evening in Juba.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj shortly after the incident, Alfred said the robbery occurred at around 6:30 p.m. along Hai Dar Salam Street, not far from his home, but that he is safe and unharmed.
“I am just reaching out to you to inform you that I was robbed this evening, and I am safe,” he stated. “Nothing had been done to me.”
He explained that he was confronted by a group of four men who were armed and attempted to take his belongings.
“I got about four men who came armed, and they tried to take my computer and my phones,” he said.
According to Alfred, the armed men did not harm him but took one of his smartphones.
“They only managed to take one phone and left the computer with me, and I am safe, and I just arrived home,” he added. “It was around 6.30 p.m. as I was walking home, not too far from home.”
Alfred said the robbers arrived on motorbikes at Dar Salaam Street and tried to force him to move to another location.
