South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Monday evening revoked the appointment of Reath Muoch Tang as a member of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA).
Tang, who hails from Nasir, is the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) acting chairperson of the National Committee on Foreign Relations.
The announcement on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) gave no reason for the revocation. However, Tang has been outspoken about the conflict and attacks on civilians in the Upper Nile region.
Mr. Tang could not immediately be reached for comment on his removal.
In other decrees concerning Western Bahr el-Ghazal State, President Kiir replaced the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) state advisor on legal affairs, Theresa Anyuat Uding, with Elizabeth Mario Masuma.
He also sacked ministers Arkanjelo Anyar Anyar of cabinet affairs, Rudolf Andrea Ujika of parliamentary and legal affairs, Ibrahim Surur Ibrahim of cooperative and rural development, Elizabeth Mario Masuma of gender, child and social welfare, and Juma Abdallah Jur of housing and public utilities (Other Political Parties).
The president appointed ministers Rudolf Andrea Ujika for cabinet affairs, Anyar Anyar Dor for parliamentary affairs, Mario Nyibango John for cooperative and rural development, Mary Carolino Madut for gender, child and social welfare, and Peter Deng Mathew Achor for housing and public utilities (OPP).
Also relieved of their duties were Julius Paul Uchala, a member of the HIV/AIDS Commission, and Christina Bernardo Timeti, a member of the Employees Justice Chamber. They were replaced by Simon Abubakar Daniel and Kamisa Juma Gidad in the HIV/AIDS Commission and Employees Justice Chamber, respectively.
