Yambio World Vision staff shot in night attack

Police in Western Equatoria State capital Yambio have said a staff member of the World Vision was wounded when criminals attacked and looted his house on Friday night.

Acting Police Commissioner, Maj Gen Isahak Abud William, told Radio Tamazuj that 48-year-old Mario Bale was transferred to Juba hospital for further treatment while the four criminals remain at large.

Maj Gen Abud William said: “On Friday at 7PM, four criminals attacked the house of somebody called Mario Bale in an area called Hai Melekia. They ordered him around at gun point, leading to a struggle and the shooting of Bale in the right hand before the criminals fled.”

The police official explained that the victim was rushed to a local hospital but was transferred to Juba for further treatment.

“We took Bale to hospital and he is right now under medical treatment. His situation is stable,” he said.
