Sudan: Political activists released in Blue Nile

Security forces in the town of Geissan in Sudan’s Blue Nile State on Monday released three young activists who were arrested along with the political activist Al Sadig Adam, who died recently in detention.

The four youths including the deceased were arrested by Sudanese security personnel in Fazugli town and taken into military custody on 3 May.

Sources from the area told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the three men, Abdurrahman Mohamed Nasser, Yusuf Jumaa Saed and Al Dou Nasser have been released from the prison.

The activists were accused of spying for the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North, which is fighting the government in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states. While in prison the accused were allegedly subjected to torture by the military intelligence.
