South Sudan refugees reach to Sherkole camp in Ethiopia

Some refugees from Blue Nile who had been living in Maban County have recently arrived to Sherkole camp (Kubri Khamsa) in Ethiopia. Many of the new arrivals had been living in Doro camp.

Mama Marta Ahmed, deputy chairperson of Sherkole Refugees Council, told Radio Tamazuj that the Blue Nile families who have reached from Doro camp were complaining about the problem of schooling for their children in the South Sudanese county.

“The families came here to look for education for their children. As soon as they arrived they were assured by the organizations that their children will be enrolled by September,” she explained.

She further revealed that the new arrivals from Upper Nile State were ethnic Nuers and Dinkas as well as Shilluks. The new arrivals have been given some household items, saying they will be taken to a new site near Ashuraa camp, according to Marta.

“We will be having a meeting tomorrow with the humanitarian organizations, so that we can know the figure of the new arrivals and then identify the new camp,” she said.
