At least six gang members, who are the sons of Unity State Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Sudan Juol Dador were arrested by the police on Monday after being involved in a gang fight in Rubkona County, which led to the injury of several people.
Unity State Police Spokesperson John Malieth told Radio Tamazuj that Gen. Dador’s sons started fighting with the sons of Maj. Gen. Mose Ruai Khor, a commander of the SPLA-IO, on Sunday, and the gang clashes escalated on Monday, forcing the police to intervene.
“Those who are involved are the sons of SPLA-IO Gen. Mose Ruai Khor and Gen. Sudan, the police commissioner. They have created insecurity for the residents of Rubkona Town,” he explained. “Six people from both sides, including a 16-year-old girl affiliated with one of the gangs in Rubkona town, were injured in the fighting.”
“The police arrested six gang members, and they will be investigated for the fighting which occurred on Sunday evening up to Monday,” Malieth added.
The police mouthpiece said the six injured people were referred to the MSF Hospital in Bentiu IDP Camp for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Gatdet Gatduol, a civil society activist who doubles as the Chairman of the Youth Forum in Unity State, said the arrest of the six errant sons of the police chief is a positive step by the police because they have been terrorizing the inhabitants of Rubkona Town.
“I condemned such incidents by the sons of the two generals who represent the SPLM party and SPLM-IO,” he stated. “It is not the first time for the sons of the police commissioner to fight with other gangs. They even killed people in Rubkona County last year.”
