South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) said on Monday that a small passenger aircraft crashed about 20 km southwest of Juba, killing all 14 people on board.
The aircraft, a Cessna 208 Caravan with registration 5Y-NOK, was operated by CityLink Aviation Ltd., the authority said in a statement.
The plane departed Yei for Juba International Airport at 0915 local time (0615 GMT) but lost communication at 0943, SSCAA said. Those on board included one pilot and 13 passengers, among them two Kenyan nationals and 12 South Sudanese nationals. There were no survivors.
Preliminary information suggests the crash may have been caused by poor weather conditions, particularly low visibility, the authority said, adding that an investigation is under way.
Rescue teams have been deployed to the site to support recovery efforts and gather further information. SSCAA extended its condolences to the families of the victims and said updates would be provided as more details become available.
