South Kordofan refugees at Yida camp and citizens of Unity state yesterday received a delegation from Bentiu, the state capital, which included Angelo Majak the Pariang County commissioner, Angelo Nyang Chol, the state minister for education, and a number of state stakeholders on an official visit.
The visit was greatly welcomed by the people of the area, as they were welcomed with joyous traditional dances. The officials were also met by Sultan of Yida Payam Deng Amom Deng.
In meetings with the officials residents renewed their demand for provision of essential services in the county in term of roads, health, education and water.
In the same context, the commissioner reiterated his warm welcome to the Nuba Mountain refugees hosted in Unity state and revealed that he understands and respects the refugees’ decision of rejecting the proposal to transfer the refugees to Nyeel Camp.
Majak pointed to the necessity of collective work between the government and refugees and urged the international and local NGOs to provide the refugees with the necessary services.
