Authorities in Cueibet County of Lakes State say security forces are combing the area to apprehend a murder suspect identified as Arang-rang Mayor from Achol-Malek Payam.

The executive director of Cuiebet County told Radio Tamazuj that the suspect fled after committing a murder in the Gek cattle camp on Saturday.

Commissioner Madit Malual Ater said that the suspected murderer is at large but will soon be arrested.

“The suspected murderer who managed to escape is called Arang Rang Mayor, he is the one who killed a person and escaped to the bush. But security forces are running after him and still, he will be apprehended," he said. 

He assured the people of Cueiebet that the area was safe as authorities handle the situation.  

“We are safe, and these cases are being handled administratively, people are under control, there is no problem," he added. 

The commissioner revealed that the suspect and the victim all hail from the different payams of the Ayiel community, and stressed that there is no tension between the communities.
