Man killed in revenge attack in Koch County

The authorities in Koch County in Unity State have confirmed that a 25-year-old man identified as Jima Kuany Thot was killed during a traditional dance rehearsal in Koch County headquarters last Friday.

Brigadier General Samuel Machul of the county police said the incident happened on Friday at around 11:30 p.m. during a dance practice when Maet Gatkuoth Guol, 28, shot and killed Kuany in an apparent revenge attack.

“It happened on Friday night when Maet Gatkuoth Guol, 28, shot the victim, identified as Jima Kuany Thot, 25, dead. It was a revenge killing, and we are looking for the murderer to arrest and arraign him in court,” he said. “However, we decided that the traditional dance should continue, but we have a special joint force that will monitor the situation during their dance.”

Gen. Machul added that no arrest has been made, but that county authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and to arrest the suspect.

He urged local youth to refrain from the culture of revenge and cyclic killings.
