The Education Department in Unity State’s Leer County has received a donation of 192 school benches from World Relief to support learning in schools across the county.
Gatjung Gatwang Tap, the county’s director of education, said the benches will mostly be distributed to three secondary schools and some primary schools that do not have enough classroom furniture.
“We received the donation of 192 school benches from World Relief. They are mainly for secondary schools in Leer County, including Emma Secondary, Piliney Secondary, and Bow Secondary School,” he stated. “The education department will also give some to primary schools because they do not have any school benches.”
The director said the donation is expected to improve the learning environment for students by providing proper seating in classrooms.
He advised community members to ensure that the benches are used only in schools. He warned that anyone found using them for personal or home purposes will be held accountable.
Gatjung thanked World Relief for supporting education in Leer County and helping address the shortage of school furniture in local schools.
Meanwhile, Kai Gatluak, a resident, lauded World Relief for supporting learning in schools across the county.
“I appreciate the World Relief organization for giving our schools support,” he said.
