23 casualties in White Nile clash

At least 9 people were found dead and 14 others injured after armed clashes between two tribes in Nabagaya village in White Nile state. The fighting between the Gadda and Herar gunmen was attributed to eruption of an old feud last Friday, the day of the Eid holiday.

Police have intervened to prevent further fighting. The Minister of Health of the state Mutassim Sadig has announced that his ministry responded by providing free treatment for those affected including surgical operations. He said the corpses were taken to the ministry of health for autopsies and police procedures, and will be handed over the families of the deceased.

A source in the area explained to Radio Tamazuj that clash resulted from an old dispute between the tribes during which a member of the Herar tribe killed a member of Gadda tribe in Souk Al Shaabi in Kosti some time back. This led to members of Gadda tribe launching attack on the other tribes which resulted in the killing of 9 people and injury of 14 others.
