The South Sudan men’s basketball team, Bright Stars, is playing Senegal this evening with hopes to secure a ticket to the 2023 World Cup.
The game against one of Africa’s toughest team will take place at the Al Ittihad Stadium in Egypt.
The Bright Stars will play their final three qualifying matches in Alexandria, Egypt this weekend.
If they win any of the three qualifying games against Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and hosts Egypt, they will book their spot in this summer’s World Cup, jointly held in Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
The first match-up is against Senegal on Friday, February 24. They will then play the Democratic Republic of Congo (February 25) and Egypt a day later (February 26).
