Last week, precisely, on October 4th, 2025, a moment occurred that carried great spiritual and national significance. Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programmes, visited the Stone International Church and Generation of Mysteries International Schools and Homes. Her visit was more than just a gesture of goodwill; it served as a national acknowledgment of the divine work that has been quietly shaping the future of South Sudan. Each child rescued is a remarkable achievement for the country.
At the heart of this unique mission is a prophet, Peter A.D., a man who gave up the opportunity to become one of South Sudan’s distinguished doctors in pursuit of a higher calling. His journey began modestly before independence, in Khartoum, Sudan, where he led a small but passionate prayer group of scholars, among whom was my cousin, Dr. Makur Bar Thon.
Persecution marked his journey as he dedicated himself to advancing God’s word. He endured over 90 days in prison, alongside others, for his faith and his relentless efforts to spread the word while seeking guidance from senior servants of God. In spite of the persecution, he was sustained by a divine strength that transformed his trials into triumphs. Today, he has created something more important than an ordinary church building; he has established a sanctuary of hope where the seeds of faith and nationhood are nurtured.
The Generation of Mysteries he established now provides shelter for hundreds of children whose lives could have ended in tragedy. This includes orphans, street children, the abandoned, the neglected, and underprivileged youth he gathered from across South Sudan; individuals whom society regularly overlooks. These children are now filled with renewed hope. In this sanctuary, they have found not only shelter and classrooms but also a loving family.
They have, in essence, been given a second chance at life and nurtured with love by a man who receives no salary and does not own a business empire but gives everything he has. His only goal is to preach the gospel and care for children who are not his own by blood but are his own by divine calling. He manages them without expecting enormous earthly rewards.
As Christians, we are reminded in Scripture, specifically Matthew 10:41, that “Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.” Although prophets are rarely honored in their homeland, the recent visit by Hon. Adut Salva Kiir to this church serves as an exemplary and transformative moment.
The message this conveyed is that Prophet Peter A.D., who walked the narrow road of sacrifice and dedicatedly prayed for South Sudan’s independence, safety, and prosperity, has not labored in vain; his intercession for peace while upholding the nation in prayer is not separate from nation-building—it is its spiritual foundation. The recent visit by Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit shows that this Prophet’s work is in alignment with our national values and is recognized at the highest levels.
Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit’s frequent and significant visits to the veterans who are pillars of the nation are laying a strong foundation for national healing. This type of leadership speaks to the fundamental reality that South Sudan’s strength cannot rely solely on politics, the economy, or military power. Through genuine engagement with children and their guardians, she connects government authority with grassroots transformation. By doing so, she conveys a vision of servant leadership that our troubled country desperately needs.
Despite the fact that South Sudan is passing through the turbulence of war and a torn social fabric, Stone International Church and Generation of Mysteries International Schools deserve more than admiration; they deserve our active support. They are cultivating the generation that will one day elevate this country globally. While Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit has numerous priorities, the pursuit of reconciliation is paramount. With the guidance of the Church and other faith-based organizations, achieving reconciliation can be more accessible.
With her heartfelt visit to the children, Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit was paying tribute to Prophet Peter A.D., which in itself was an honor to his acts of selfless sacrifice. By humbling herself to engage with the lives of the orphans and raising her voice for their cause, she honors the prophet while also upholding the legacy of her father, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit, who has long shouldered the country’s burdens.
The involvement of all Christians, Muslims, and other faiths is vital for the restoration of South Sudan as a country defined by faith, compassion, and unity. This faith and unity would prevent our leaders from kneeling before practitioners of dark rituals or offering substantial rewards to spiritual entities that only seek to maintain their influence in exchange for political and economic favors or promotions.
Through her genuine actions, Hon. Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit is making a meaningful impact. This is how legacies are preserved and how nations truly rise.
Until then, yours truly, Mr. Teetotaler!
