Heavy bombardments near Kauda in Nuba mountains

The Sudan air forces have dropped 13 bombs at Kauda, a main town in the Nuba Mountains. Wednesday between 13:55 and 14:03 a government Antonov made 3 passes over the area. At 16:45 two MIG jet fighter planes overflew the same areas, with one of the MIGs dropping one bomb.

The area was already hit on May 26th, which resulted in significant damage to the offices of a civil society organization (NRRDO) when a bomb hit on their compound. According to local witnesses, the first planes appeared Wednesday morning at 10:18 am dropping 12 bombs in the area of Kauda and nearby Gidel with the Mother of Mercy hospital. This hospital was attacked and hit earlier this month.

The number of casualties of the raids of Wednesday is not known. The government of Khartoum is determined to finish the rebellion by the SPLM-North before the rain season starts.
