The police in Lakes State have confirmed that they have arrested two men on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old girl on Tuesday morning in Ngop Payam in Yirol West County.
The acting police spokesperson in Lakes State, Lt. Col. Moses Machuoc Bol, told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that the suspects are Marial Majur Mading, 28, and Ichut Makur Mabor, 25. He however said a third suspect is on the run but being pursued by authorities.
“The two suspects were initially arrested and detained at the Ngop Payam Police Post but they have now been transferred to Yirol West County Police Station for investigation,” Lt. Col. Machuoc said. “The girl who was raped was taken to Mapuordit Hospital where she is now receiving treatment.”
Meanwhile, James Adut Kulang, a medical officer at Mapuordit Hospital confirmed that the rape victim was admitted to the health facility and is getting treatment for injuries.
“Yes, we received a young girl aged 17 years who was allegedly raped by some boys in the village and she is undergoing treatment here at the hospital,” he said.
