The Deputy Head of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, Gen. Malik Aggar, has advised the people of Blue Nile State to fight tribalism and forget the past hardships to achieve unity in the country.

Speaking at the Ramadan breakfast for the government of Blue Nile State in Damazin on Friday, Aggar said Sudan needs unity.

“We need unity because Sudan has witnessed many deaths and rape, but to preserve the state, we must forget the past,” he stated. “Everyone should move forward and not remain imprisoned by the past and close this chapter.”

Aggar reiterated that the Sudanese government's engagement in negotiations with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) must be based on conditions that must be adhered to, emphasizing that some commitments and conditions must be fulfilled, including the commitment of the militia to the Jeddah Declaration announcing the withdrawal of rebels from civilian homes.

Sudan has been witnessing military confrontations between the Sudanese Army and the RSF since 15 April. The war has been described as the most violent, resulting in thousands killed and millions displaced and seeking refuge both internally and externally.

Efforts by regional and international actors to halt the war and reach peace between the conflict parties have failed.

Sudanese political forces demand the initiation of an inclusive Sudanese dialogue to resolve the Sudanese crisis. Dr. Mohammed Zakaria Farajallah, a member of the Democratic Bloc of the Forces of Freedom and Change, previously stated in remarks to Radio Tamazuj that they emphasized the necessity of launching a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue that does not exclude anyone to solve the Sudanese crisis.

Several rounds of negotiations between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces in Jeddah under Saudi-American mediation have failed. The Saudi-American mediation announced the suspension of negotiations between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces for an indefinite period due to the failure to reach consensus.
