Fellata child missing after theft of 600 sheep in Blue Nile

Gunmen in eastern Blue Nile State looted 600 sheep on Tuesday and are also suspected of abducting a ten-year old boy who was with the flock.

Sultan Ahmed Mohamed Osman, a leader of the Fellata Gamba tribe, said that the abduction occurred in Birka area in Beni Wara, west of Kurmuk in Blue Nile State, on Tuesday at about noon.

He explained that the gunmen first opened fire on the shepherds, causing them to flee, then seized the flock. “They opened fire, the shepherds ran, and afterwards they didn’t know where the boy ran to, because they didn’t find him,” he said.

The Fellata leader identified the boy as son of a certain Omar Jallo. He noted also that a similar event happened a week ago, when 1,500 head of sheep were raided from the Jebel Kukuli area.
