Bahr el Ghazal region unified forces to graduate on 21 September

The deputy chairperson of the Joint Transitional Security Committee (JTSC) on Monday announced that the unified forces in the Bahr el Ghazal region will graduate on 21 September in Wau.

Maj. Gen. Michael Majur Aleer told reporters at the SSPDF’s Division 5 Headquarters in Wau’s Grinti Military Base that the forces who were trained in Masna Biira, Mapel, and Pantit in Northern and Western Bahr el Ghazal states would be the ones passing out.

He said plans were underway to accommodate the graduating unified forces at Grinti barracks in Wau during the period of their rehearsals and urged the soldiers to report there.

“I would like to announce that our graduation of the forces is going to take place on the 21 September and we are mobilizing the logistics to bring all the forces that will be graduated to be stationed here in the headquarters of the Fifth Infantry Division,” Gen. Aleer said. “They will do some exercises here and at the Wau stadium.”

“The selected personnel who are going to participate in all the marches and the drills are to report back to your supervisors and chief instructors in the training centers and be ready for the graduation on 21 September 2022,” he added.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Abraham Gum, the SSPDF Division Five commander in Wau, said he was ready to accommodate all the graduating forces at his military facility.

“The place is ready for the accommodation of all the comrades, even the organized forces have to be accommodated in this area,” he reassured. “We have the facility to accommodate them for the 3 to 6 days mentioned for the graduation. I am happy for the people of Wau and that we maintained peace for the last three years.”

“When I came here and took over from Maj. Gen. Ker Ker, I mentioned that I have five plans concerning peace and that peace has become a reality for today,” Gen. Gum added.

There are approximately 7,000 soldiers in Western Bahr el Ghazal state set to graduate.
