A new aviation company, Nomad Navigation Airlines Company Limited, has officially been launched in Central Equatoria State’s Yei River County, bringing the number of operational aviation companies in Yei to two.
The launch ceremony, held on Friday morning at the Yei Airstrip, brought together religious leaders, youth representatives, government officials, and members of the community to witness the milestone.
Speaking during the ceremony, Kiden Doreen, Chief Executive Officer of Nomad Navigation Airlines Company Limited, said the company will operate flights from Monday to Saturday, providing reliable air transport services across the country, and further called for cooperation from the community to ensure the success of the airline.
She said that the service is expected to reduce travel challenges that have caused many people to miss business opportunities, medical appointments, educational engagements, and other important activities.
“The challenges people are facing, most especially in Yei River County, made me look forward and come up with this initiative to provide quick services to the people because some people can have meetings or emergencies that need them instantly,” she said. “That is why we came up with these services to ease such emergencies and enable people to catch up with their meetings and many other things.”
Meanwhile, Dominic Living Wawa, a resident of Yei, appealed to development partners, leaders, and the community to continue promoting peace, saying a peaceful environment is essential for economic recovery and attracting more investments in the transport sector and other areas of development.
“We want to call upon partners; everybody should work towards peace so that we can see that more opportunities can come to boost the economy of Central Equatoria State,” she said.
Emeritus Bishop Hillary Luate Adeba, who presided over the blessing of the airline, described the launch as a positive development that will contribute to economic growth and create employment opportunities for young people in the area.
“It’s very important that, from today, we commit this project to God so that God will be the one to guide it in the air. The citizens of this country who use air transport and it will boost the economy of this country. This is how we develop the nation,” he stated. “Countries are developed by people forming companies so that we can employ our people, especially the youth, who are always complaining of unemployment.”
The launch ceremony was witnessed by the Commissioners of Yei River and Morobo counties, alongside community members and other guests.
