The local authorities in Morobo County in Central Equatoria State have said the construction of a building to house the C court has started in the county.
Joseph Mawa, the county commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that the construction of the C court was initiated by the UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM) who promised to hand over the keys in 3 months when the building is completed.
He said that for the first time, the people of Morobo will have a structure to accommodate them when they are discussing community issues.
“The construction of the C court in Morobo is going on well,” Commissioner Mawa said. “It was initiated by IOM and after 3 months, they will hand over the keys to the county authorities.”
“This customary law court will help in law enforcement in the local communities by handling, among others cases of gender-based violence in the county, through the paramount chief,” he added.
On his part, Alex Taban, the paramount chief of Morobo County, says the construction of the structure is important because it will house the only traditional court in the area.
“It is very important because it is the only court on the traditional side of the administration and if it (building) is completed, it will provide a shade for the people, and handling issues will be easy,” he said. “I encourage the public to utilize the court and bring forward their cases.”
