The authorities and citizens in parts of Aweil North county of Northern Bahr el-Ghazal state complain of lack of communication by cell phone or other means,
In light of the declining security situation along the border with East Darfur, the county executive has appealed for better means of communication.
Kuol Athuai Hal, the county commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that his county suffers lack of communication means, noting the absence of the phone networks isolates them from the state headquarters.
This means it takes a long time for messages from the county to reach headquarters at a time when they need to communicate with government agencies in order to update them about the latest events that are taking place in the county.
He added that the location of the county at the border makes it semi-isolated, pointing further to the decline in the security situation in the county, especially in the Kiir Adem area.
At the beginning of last week there was an attack in the northern part of the territory claimed by the county resulting in two people killed and others injured. Due to lack of means of communication, this incident was not immediately reported, the commissioner said.
